Indonesia Sustainability Forum 2025

10 October 2025 - 11 October 2025

The world faces unprecedented risks and the threat of irreversible damage due to soaring levels of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Our planet is experiencing harsher environmental conditions, marked by record-breaking occurrences and the alarming scale of disasters such as floods and heatwaves. 2024 was the warmest year on record, with global temperatures reaching 1.55°C above the pre-industrial level average1, continuing the trend of extreme warming. The climate crisis is expected to cost the global economy as much as USD 12.5 trillion in economic losses worldwide by 20502.

Indonesia, one of the world’s most climate-vulnerable nations—with 42 million people living under 10 meters above sea level3—is advancing a resilient path forward by strengthening its food, energy, and water systems. This involves strategies like promoting renewable energy, increasing energy efficiency, improving water management, and ensuring food security while conserving natural resources. With huge renewable potential exceeding 3.600 GW4, rich reserves of critical minerals like nickel, tin, and copper4, and ecosystems capable of storing up to 1 Gt of CO₂5, Indonesia is turning climate vulnerability into a foundation for global leadership and resilience.

As one of the world’s 20 largest economies, Indonesia faces the dual challenge of promoting economic growth while ensuring environmental sustainability. To address this, the Indonesia Sustainability Forum (ISF) was established in 2023 as a collaborative platform to catalyze investments and actions that promote decarbonization and sustainable development. In 2024, ISF rebranded itself as the Indonesia ‘International’ Sustainability Forum (IISF) to continue scaling its impact internationally.

The most recent IISF event, IISF 2024 have reinforced Indonesia’s leadership in the global sustainability agenda with over 11,000 participants from 53 countries attended the event, featured 24 plenary and thematic sessions. This impactful event resulted in the signing of 12 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) on energy transition, further solidifying commitments to a sustainable future.

Building from previous ISFs, the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum (IISF) 2025 aims to foster partnerships and share best practices among stakeholders, contributing to a resilient, sustainable, and prosperous future for the world. IISF 2025 shall continue to deepen conversations around five key levers and the key financial and non-financial enablers needed to achieve sustainable growth.
