Sanur, Bali — May 24, 2025. A renewable energy workshop co-hosted by BTI Energy and New Energy Nexus Indonesia titled “Memaksimalkan Energi Bersih dengan Panel Surya untuk Solusi Berkelanjutan” was held on Saturday at the open-air BUPDA LPD Intaran compound in Sanur.
The event is part of the ongoing Matangi Bali program, an initiative aimed at accelerating climate innovation and entrepreneurship across the island.
The workshop was attended primarily by university students and aspiring entrepreneurs, offering both a technical overview of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and a closer look at the challenges and opportunities of developing renewable energy solutions in Bali.
The event opened with a presentation by I Gusti Ngurah Erlangga Bayu Rahmanda Putra, CEO of BTI Energy. Erlangga spoke about the company’s journey, the business model behind solar installations, and the broader landscape of renewable energy development in Bali and Indonesia.
He highlighted the unique emissions profile of Bali, where the energy sector is the largest contributor to greenhouse gas emissions – unlike most regions in Indonesia, where land-use change dominates. He pointed to local and national policies, including Bali’s target to reach net-zero emissions by 2045, as key enablers of the sector’s growth.
Current and upcoming solar projects were also presented, including PLTS Bangli, PLTS Waduk Muara Tukad, and planned developments in Bali Barat and Batur.
“There is a growing space for local innovators in the renewable energy sector,” Angga said. “We need more people from Bali actively leading this movement.”
The second session featured a technical overview of solar PV systems, including key components such as panels, inverters, and battery storage options. The session also highlighted the difference between off-grid and on-grid systems.
Participants also showed their enthusiasm – asking questions about solar PV’s return on investment (ROI), efficiency loss over time, and the potential of emerging technologies such as solar tracking systems.
The discussion reflected a high level of interest from attendees eager to explore the feasibility of solar energy in their own communities or businesses.
To close the session, participants were invited to tour three sites within the Intaran market complex where solar systems have already been installed: Pasar Intaran, the Wantilan, and the market office. The installations, part of BTI Energy’s portfolio, serve as functioning examples of solar energy integrated into everyday infrastructure.
The site visits aimed to provide participants with tangible insights into how clean energy systems operate in real-world settings and the potential for broader adoption in similar public and commercial spaces across the island.
