Nature Climate Solution and Biodiversity Policy Coordinator

    Konservasi Indonesia

Konservasi Indonesia (KI), Conservation International’s (CI) main partner in Indonesia, envisions a healthy and prosperous Indonesia where biodiversity is valued and preserved. With offices and project sites across Indonesia, we promote a sustainable landscape-seascape approach and establish partnerships with multiple stakeholders across sectors and jurisdictions to deliver lasting impacts for people and nature in Indonesia.

Nature plays a critical role in the global climate system. Studies say that nature contributes 30% of the way to solving the climate crisis. Konservasi Indonesia adopts a Nature Climate Solution (NCS) strategy in its sustainable landscape seascape approach. The strategy focuses on securing and protecting critical ecosystems, restoring degraded areas, and improving production practices. In parallel, Konservasi Indonesia also contributes to the conservation of biodiversity in Indonesia through supporting Government of Indonesia in data collection, policy formulation, and mapping.

With the growing demand for expertise and opportunities in both fields mentioned above, we are looking for a NCS and Biodiversity Policy Coordinator who will support our NCS policy work (climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts, specifically on the carbon pricing mechanism), assist NCS project development when feasible, conduct ecosystem services and biodiversity valuation, as well as explore biodiversity financing schemes (payment for ecosystem services, biodiversity credits, green bonds, etc).

In terms of strategic engagement, the Policy Coordinator will have to maintain the network and engage with, among others, the Coordinating Ministry of Food Affairs, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Forestry, Ministry of Planning; and non-government stakeholders, research center, and other actors dealing with NCS and biodiversity in Indonesia.
