This vehicle has a commitment to generate 30% of revenue outside of the current carbon market and to deploy 60% of all capital to protect critical biodiversity areas and intact ecosystems. This role will lead analysis and strategy development to help build investor confidence in environmental markets, evaluating the demand landscape, asset types, characteristics and modalities for contracting. With meaningful analysis, we can then develop a commercial strategy to clearly communicate with shareholders and improve the creditworthiness of the underlying natural assets.

We are looking for an expert, futurist and entrepreneur that will help us pull back and evaluate the broad range of environmental credits that will be in high demand 10-15 years from now. This involves helping test and evaluate our commercial assumptions of where carbon and other environmental markets are headed, and laying a foundation for a market commitment to protect intact ecosystems.

With this analysis, we can then show how the financing vehicle is designed to meet this future demand landscape, helping to finalize an investment-ready product. You will have the full support of the wider FC team, in particular the CEO and CIO who both have more than 15 years of experience working in the payment for ecosystem services and carbon credit markets. If you’re committed to conservation and restoration, are frustrated with the current state of carbon credits, and are motivated to build the next generation of environmental markets, we invite you to apply for this opportunity.

About Structured Finance for Nature

In 2025, Forest Carbon seeks to design and launch a structured finance vehicle with a target capitalization of $100M to expand its nature-based asset portfolio. The Structured Finance for Nature (SFN) instrument will finance a diversified portfolio of natural assets, with 60% dedicated to protecting intact ecosystems. This impact objective is made possible by a blended capital stack that enables development finance institutions and family offices alike to participate.

Intact forests and wetlands are critical for carbon sequestration, biodiversity, and community resilience, but these ecosystems are rapidly deteriorating, especially in Southeast Asia. SFN addresses key challenges hindering the establishment of a new class of natural assets. By aggregating diverse assets and creating a blended capital stack, SFN mitigates high upfront costs, long return timelines and project-specific risks. Rigorous monitoring and verification systems ensure project integrity and meet next-generation transparency expectations. With the endorsement of this instrument by CPI’s Global Innovation Lab, Forest Carbon aims to launch a replicable model for capital deployment, and set an industry standard in community benefit sharing. More information on the initial SFN concept endorsed by the Global Innovation Lab can be found here.

Expectations Of The Consultancy

In partnership with the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD), the Global Innovation Lab, and FMO, Forest Carbon has created an initial design of the capital stack of the SFN with input from a range of leading prospective financiers.

Now Forest Carbon is seeking a seasoned market analysis expert to refine instrument parameters, with a particular focus on structuring advance purchase commitments for carbon credits, evaluating non-carbon credit revenue strategies, and enhancing the creditworthiness of the instrument. These efforts will support the development of a diversified revenue model and lay the foundation for market commitments from key off-takers to de-risk cashflows for investors.

In order to fully capitalize the SFN, we require deeper analysis on:

Market Trends and Client Needs

How can we ensure we factor in the needs of the clients in the development of our environmental products?

What are the market demand signals / parameters we should consider for due diligence on new pipeline / acquisitions?

Carbon Market Pre-Sales Structures & Advance Purchase Commitments

What are trends in pre-sales structures and advance purchase commitments in the past few years and what can we expect over the coming decade?

Where and how should Forest Carbon incorporate these mechanisms into the SFN?

What types of projects / environmental assets are the best fit for these structures?

How do we provide investor confidence with pre contracted revenues while ensuring we retain sufficient upside to share equitable benefits with communities, repay investors and deliver returns for shareholders?

Non-Carbon Credit Revenue

What are current and potential revenue streams that Forest Carbon can leverage given its target portfolio structure of 60% intact ecosystems?
