Despite the country’s abundant water resources\, which account for 6% of the world’s and 21% of the Asia-Pacific’s supply\, 68% of Indonesia’s rivers are severely polluted\, with 70% of this pollution stemming from domestic waste\, according to the Indonesian National Planning Agency. Although Indonesia has an annual water availability of 690 × 10^9 cubic meters (m3)\, well above the demand of 175 × 10^9 m3/year\, the issue of water pollution remains pressing. \nIn Southeast Asia\, the industrial water and wastewater treatment market is projected to surpass USD 5 billion by 2024\, with Indonesia\, as the region’s largest economy\, expected to represent the most significant market opportunity. The Indonesian government has set ambitious targets through its National Medium Term Planning (RPJM) 2020-2024\, aiming for 100% safe drinking water access by 2024\, requiring a total investment of IDR 253.8 trillion. In 2018\, IDR 16 trillion (USD 1.163 billion) was allocated for sanitation infrastructure\, intended to manage wastewater from 853\,000 households and build clean water facilities and treatment plants. \nWater Indonesia 2024 will take place alongside Electric & Power Indonesia\, providing a unique platform to explore the interconnectedness of the water and power industries. In today’s global landscape\, the synergy between water and electricity is undeniable. DESCRIPTION:The Indonesian government has established a green economy to implement sustainable economic transformation towards its Golden Vision in 2045. The Low Carbon Development and Climate Resilience support the Green Economic Transformation to boost Indonesia’s economic growth and achieve net zero emissions by 2060 or earlier. The green economic interventions through Low Carbon Development and Climate Resilience offer a GDP growth in 2025-2045 of 6.22%. The Green Economy will also provide a stepping stone to objectively and systematically achieve sustainable development and net zero emission targets that contribute to a better world future and realize Indonesia’s Vision in 2045 as a “Sovereign\, Advanced and Sustainable Archipelago”. \nIn realizing a green economy\, implementing low-carbon development is necessary to reduce the negative impacts of extractive economic development. Apart from that\, implementing a circular economy is also a fundamental paradigm\, with an emphasis on resource efficiency\, reducing waste generation and greenhouse gas emissions\, with policy expansion towards 10R (refuse\, rethink\, reduce\, reuse\, recycle\, repair\, refurbish\, remanufacture\, repurpose\, recycle\, and recover). \nSupport from all parties in developing and implementing technology and innovation that can accelerate the implementation of the development transition towards a green economy and circular economy is vital. Various initiatives have been carried out\, both from the government side\, which continues to develop regulations\, policies and enabling conditions\, as well as from initiatives from the private sector and society\, which need to continue to be encouraged and strengthened so that a comprehensive and robust ecosystem is built through multi-stakeholder collaboration. Often\, existing technology and innovation still need to be fully known by those who need it\, and support is still needed for development towards a more impactful scale. \nTo facilitate all related stakeholders’ discussions and collaborations directly regarding technology and innovation\, the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas is thrilled to announce the upcoming Expo and Conference entitled “Green Economy Expo: Advancing Technology\, Innovation\, and Circularity.” This event presents a unique opportunity for all of us to learn\, grow\, and contribute to advancing our shared goals.

Traditional approaches alone are insufficient\, necessitating novel solutions. Innovators\, with their adaptability and inventive spirit\, are pivotal in developing transformative technologies to mitigate and adapt to climate impacts\, fostering a more sustainable future. \nMarine Plastic Pollution Oceans face a serious plastic pollution problem\, harming marine life and ecosystems and affecting the food chain. Traditional methods like beach clean-ups and recycling help\, but are not enough to tackle the millions of tons of plastic entering the oceans every year. Fresh ideas from innovators\, who think differently and challenge old methods\, are crucial. \nSustainable Fisheries The rising global demand for fish has driven the development of fishing technology\, but this has led to overexploitation and degradation of fishery resources.
